Juventus and the “Ottolini Factor”: Dragusin and Norton-Cuffy Among the Targets

Start

As the January transfer window draws nearer, Juventus are preparing to strengthen Luciano Spalletti’s squad with targeted signings — and the arrival of Marco Ottolini as the new sporting director could play a decisive role in shaping the club’s strategy.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Ottolini’s appointment comes at a crucial time, with the Bianconeri expected to reinforce several areas of the team after a relatively quiet summer market. While the midfield remains the top priority, attention at Continassa has also turned to defensive options and the wide areas.

Norton-Cuffy the Top Option on the Right

One of the positions under close evaluation is the right flank, where João Mário appears set to leave in January. Should his departure be confirmed, Juventus plan to bring in a reliable alternative for Spalletti.

With Ottolini now at the helm, the name gathering momentum is Brooke Norton-Cuffy — the dynamic right-sided player currently at Genoa, and one of the talents Ottolini himself helped to bring to Italy. Genoa are reluctant to part ways with the 20-year-old mid-season, yet a substantial offer or a replacement deal could open the door to negotiations.

Dragusin, Ottolini’s Former Discovery

Another player closely linked to Ottolini is Radu Drăgușin, whom the director originally brought to Juventus as a promising 17-year-old. Later, he took the Romanian defender with him to Genoa as part of the Cambiaso deal worth around €5.5 million, before selling him to Tottenham for €25 million plus bonuses.

Now, with rumours of possible defensive movement at Juventus, Drăgușin’s name has resurfaced as a potential return candidate. Roma have also expressed interest, but a Juventus comeback under Ottolini’s direction would not be out of the question if a centre-back were to leave.

Other Names on the Juventus Radar

Juventus continue to monitor several midfield and youth options as they look to add quality and depth across the pitch. The dream target remains Sandro Tonali, though any deal would be financially difficult in January and more realistic for the summer window. Davide Frattesi, admired by many within the club, is another strong candidate should Inter open the door to his departure.

In addition, a younger, lower-cost option attracting attention is Álex Tóth, the 2005-born Hungarian talent from Ferencváros. Although raw and inexperienced, his potential and affordability make him an intriguing long-term investment.
