Tuttosport: Juventus and Tudor – The Five Untouchables for the New Season

Start

As Juventus prepare for the upcoming season, the club finds itself in a unique position among Italy’s top teams. Unlike most rivals, Juventus will begin the new campaign with the same coach who finished the last one. Igor Tudor, who took charge in late March, has already had the chance to assess the squad closely and will now continue his work in the United States during the Club World Cup.

A New Era Begins

Tuttosport report (as quoted by IlBianconero) that With the arrival of Damien Comolli in Turin and Tudor’s contract renewal, the Croatian manager’s adventure at Juventus truly begins. No longer seen as a caretaker, Tudor is now at the heart of the club’s project, shaping the future direction of the team. In recent discussions with Comolli, Tudor reportedly identified five players he considers absolutely essential—the so-called “untouchables”—who will form the backbone of his Juventus.

The Five Untouchables

In the current football climate, especially in Italy, it is increasingly difficult to label any player as unsellable. However, Tudor has made it clear that there are certain players he regards as the foundation for both the present and future of Juventus:

  • Federico Gatti: Despite market rumours and an unresolved contract renewal, Gatti is a key figure in defence for Tudor. Injuries limited his involvement last season, but the coach is eager to have him as a central pillar moving forward.

  • Andrea Cambiaso: At the centre of transfer speculation since January, including interest from major clubs in Italy and abroad, Cambiaso remains a crucial part of Tudor’s plans. His versatility and consistency make him indispensable.

  • Manuel Locatelli: A mainstay in midfield, Locatelli has become a certainty for Tudor, providing stability and leadership in the centre of the pitch.

  • Khephren Thuram: Partnering Locatelli in midfield, Thuram’s performances have quickly made him a key player. His energy and dynamism are seen as vital for the team’s balance.

  • Kenan Yildiz: The Turkish talent ended last season on a high note, impressing with his goal-scoring ability and creativity. Tudor has openly praised Yildiz, seeing him as a player to build around for the future.
