Juventus Balk at High Price for Renato Veiga, Shifts Focus to Giovanni Leoni

Start

Juventus face a significant obstacle in their pursuit of retaining Renato Veiga, whose performances on loan from Chelsea have impressed both fans and management. Despite Veiga’s strong showing and his openness to staying in Turin, the financial demands set by Chelsea have made a permanent transfer increasingly unlikely.

Veiga’s Impact and the Financial Stalemate

Calciomercato report how Veiga quickly established himself as a reliable presence in Juventus’s defense during his six-month loan. His technical quality and personality on the pitch convinced the club of his value for the future. However, Chelsea’s asking price-reportedly as high as €50 million-has proven to be a major stumbling block for Juventus, who view the figure as excessive for a permanent deal.

Veiga has expressed his desire to continue with Juventus, appreciating the opportunities and environment he found in Turin. While he is admired by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, the competition for places at Stamford Bridge is intense, making regular playing time uncertain for the Portuguese defender. Despite his hopes for a positive resolution, the most likely scenario remains a return to Chelsea at the end of his loan spell.

Juventus Eyes Giovanni Leoni

With Veiga’s future in doubt, Juventus is already moving to strengthen its defence through alternative targets. Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has identified Giovanni Leoni, a promising young defender currently at Parma, as a top priority. Born in 2006, Leoni has emerged as a standout performer and is seen as a potential long-term solution for the club’s backline.

Juventus is expected to make a concrete approach for Leoni in the near future, signalling their intent to invest in youth and secure defensive stability regardless of the outcome with Veiga.
