Juventus continue their search for attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window, and the list of potential targets is growing. Alongside the well-documented pursuit of Federico Chiesa, several new names have emerged — including Atalanta’s Daniel Maldini.
Matteo Moretto reports that Chiesa remains the main objective for the Bianconeri. His return would provide Luciano Spalletti with a versatile forward who already understands both Juventus and the dynamics of Serie A. However, sporting directors Federico Comolli and Giovanni Manna are exploring other avenues, aware that negotiations for the Italy international could prove complex.
One of the alternative options recently discussed is Yannick Ferreira Carrasco. The Belgian, currently with Al Shabab after leaving Atlético Madrid, could be open to a move back to Europe this month. Another name floated within the club is Thiago Almada, the 23-year-old Argentine playmaker linked with Atlético Madrid, whose creativity could fit Spalletti’s attacking blueprint.
Maldini Enters the Frame
According to Matteo Moretto via Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Juventus have also been monitoring Daniel Maldini. The 24-year-old, son of legendary defender Paolo Maldini, came through the ranks at AC Milan and is now at Atalanta, though he has struggled for minutes under Gian Piero Gasperini.
Maldini’s profile appeals to Juventus for several reasons. He offers tactical flexibility, capable of playing as a supporting forward or a false nine, and represents a cost-effective option compared with Chiesa or Carrasco. This makes him a realistic target as the club weigh their financial priorities and squad balance.
Lazio Also Interested
Juventus, however, may face competition from Lazio. The Biancocelesti have shown concrete interest, viewing Maldini as a player who could operate both on the wings and as a mobile striker within Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 system. Reports suggest that Maldini has already given approval to a potential move to Rome, where he could earn around €1.4 million per year.
Lazio are preparing an offer to Atalanta for a paid loan of around €1 million with an option to buy set at €9 million, which would become an obligation if the club qualify for European competitions. His Under-23 status also makes the deal appealing from a financial standpoint, as it would not significantly affect the club’s wage structure.
A Quiet Season So Far
This season, Maldini has made nine Serie A appearances for Atalanta, one in the Champions League, and one in the Coppa Italia — but is yet to find the back of the net. Despite limited impact, his technical ability and footballing intelligence continue to attract interest from Serie A’s elite.
As the transfer window progresses, Juventus will continue to evaluate whether Maldini’s profile fits Spalletti’s tactical needs — or if a more experienced name will eventually land in Turin.
