Juventus Consider Move for ‘Dibu’ Martínez as New Goalkeeping Leader

Juventus have identified Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez as a potential cornerstone for their future between the posts, with the club carrying out initial inquiries for the Aston Villa and Argentina goalkeeper. The Bianconeri are expected to reshape their goalkeeping department in the summer, with at least one of Michele Di Gregorio or Mattia Perin likely to leave and recent performances having failed to provide the desired sense of security.

According to reports from Tuttosport, Juventus have tested the ground in recent days for Martínez, who is believed to consider his cycle at Aston Villa nearing its conclusion and appears ready for a change of scenery at the end of the season. From the club’s perspective, the World Cup winner would significantly raise the level of experience and leadership in the role, thanks to his years in the Premier League and his decisive impact with Argentina, with whom he has been a protagonist in two Copa América triumphs and a World Cup victory.

Relations between Juventus and Aston Villa are positive, strengthened by recent dealings such as the major operation involving Douglas Luiz. The Brazilian midfielder is currently on loan at Villa Park, where the English club hold a buy option set at 25 million euros plus 3.5 million in bonuses. Juventus could look to use this existing framework as leverage, potentially seeking a small discount on the buy option and broadening talks to include Martínez in a wider negotiation.

From a financial standpoint, Martínez’s demands would be substantial. In England, he earns around 5 million euros net per season plus significant bonuses and is understood to be seeking a three-year deal. They are important figures for a 33-year-old, but the Argentine is widely regarded as one of the top five goalkeepers in the world and would represent a major upgrade for Juventus in a key position.

Competition will also need to be considered. Manchester United have previously been linked with a move and could, in theory, revive their interest, although goalkeeper does not appear to be their most pressing issue at the moment. As for Inter, there have been only limited indications beyond an exploratory conversation with Martínez’s agent, Gustavo Goni. For now, Juventus are at the stage of preliminary soundings, but if the situation evolves, Martínez’s name could quickly gain real momentum in the coming weeks.
