Juventus Consider Surprise Move for Giovanni Leoni Amid Fierce Competition

Start

Juventus are carefully keeping its options open in the transfer market, and one name that remains high on their radar is Giovanni Leoni, Parma’s talented young defender. While other priorities currently sit at the forefront of Juventus’ operations, Leoni remains a strategic target, reflecting the club’s commitment to securing top Italian talents for the future.

Despite already being linked with other high-profile moves—both incoming and outgoing—Juventus have never entirely dropped its interest in Leoni. The defender, born in 2006, has drawn significant attention from Serie A rivals. Inter currently leads the race, having outlined their long-term vision to the player, while AC Milan and a host of foreign clubs are also expressing keen interest. The battle for Leoni’s signature is heating up, with Parma reportedly setting an initial valuation around €40 million. However, foreign clubs such as Liverpool, Tottenham, and Newcastle have also made their interest known, pushing the transfer saga onto the international stage.

Tuttosport report (as quoted by ilbianconero)  that Juventus are now reportedly working on a smart alternative. The idea being considered is a full permanent transfer for Leoni, though at a reduced price compared to Parma’s initial demands. What sets this approach apart is the willingness to leave Leoni on loan at Parma for another season. This strategy would allow the player to continue developing with regular game time, while Juventus secures a vital asset ahead of their direct competitors.

However, to execute such a move, Juventus must first focus on player sales to generate the necessary funds. Without freeing up space and resources, a significant investment in a young prospect like Leoni would be challenging. Nevertheless, the club’s management believes that acquiring a high-potential Italian defender would be worth the financial effort, especially if it keeps Leoni away from their domestic rivals.
