Juventus Eye Argentine Duo as Almada Offered from Atletico

Start

Juventus are keeping a close eye on the Argentine market once again. After securing an agreement in principle with West Ham midfielder Guido Rodríguez – who holds a Spanish passport and therefore does not count as a non-EU signing – the Bianconeri are now considering two more of his compatriots as part of their January strategy.

Almada Offered to Juventus

According to reports from Sportitalia, intermediaries have offered Thiago Almada to Juventus as a potential alternative to Federico Chiesa, who continues to be linked with a return from Liverpool. The 24-year-old winger joined Atletico Madrid from Botafogo last summer for around €21 million but has struggled for consistent playing time under Diego Simeone.

This season, Almada has featured in just 16 matches, totalling 587 minutes, scoring twice and providing one assist. Atletico are open to allowing him to leave on loan, which could make a deal financially accessible for Juventus, particularly if Spalletti gives his approval.

Spalletti Interested in Bologna’s Castro

In addition to Almada, Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti is reportedly intrigued by Bologna striker Santiago Castro. The 21-year-old forward, who joined the Rossoblù from Vélez Sarsfield two years ago for €13.2 million, is currently negotiating a contract extension until 2028.

Castro has been one of Bologna’s brightest prospects, tallying 17 goals and 10 assists in 78 appearances since his arrival. Often compared to Inter’s Lautaro Martínez for his intensity and movement, the young Argentine fits the energetic attacking profile admired by Spalletti.

With limited space for non-EU signings following the arrival of Canadian striker Jonathan David, Juventus must manage their options carefully. However, with Rodríguez qualifying as an EU player, the club retains flexibility to explore one of these South American opportunities in the current market window.
