Juventus Eye Argentine Duo: Senesi for Defence, Pellegrino for Attack

Start

Juventus are already planning beyond the January transfer window, with their sporting department working on long-term reinforcements for both defence and attack. While the current window may bring minor adjustments, attention in Turin is increasingly fixed on the rebuilding process set to unfold in the summer. La Gazzetta dello Sport report that among the players under close observation are two Argentines — Marcos Senesi and Mateo Pellegrino — both viewed as strategic targets for the club’s future.

Senesi on a Free Transfer

Marcos Senesi is entering the final months of his contract with Bournemouth and will become a free agent at the end of the season. From February, the 28-year-old will be free to negotiate with other clubs, and Juventus are positioning themselves early to try to secure his signature ahead of growing competition across Europe.

The left-footed centre-back is highly rated for his composure, positional intelligence, and ability to operate in both a three- and four-man defensive line — characteristics that mirror exactly what Juventus have been seeking for some time.

The club are understood to be preparing a financial package worth between €5 and €6 million per season, including bonuses, with the promise of a key role in the defensive rebuild. However, much will depend on Senesi’s personal ambitions and the sporting project presented to him, as he intends to take full control over his next move.

Pellegrino as Vlahovic’s Successor

The other name attracting serious interest at Continassa is that of Mateo Pellegrino, the 24-year-old striker currently impressing with Parma. Juventus scouts have been following his progress closely, convinced of his potential to develop into a top-level forward.

Parma are keen to keep him until the end of the season, but the Bianconeri are already evaluating a possible summer move worth between €25 and €30 million — structured similarly to the deal that took Bonny to Inter. Pellegrino’s physicality, finishing instinct, and tactical awareness make him a strong candidate to lead Juventus’s attack in the near future.

With Dušan Vlahović expected to depart at the end of his contract and uncertainty surrounding other forwards such as Jonathan David and Loïs Openda, Pellegrino could represent both continuity and renewal — a striker capable of growing within Serie A while securing Juventus’s long-term offensive future.
