Juventus Eyes Matteo Tognozzi’s Return: Talent Scout Behind Huijsen and Yildiz Could Rejoin Amid Bayern Interest

Juventus are on the verge of significant changes both on and off the pitch, with the club reportedly in advanced talks to bring back Matteo Tognozzi, the renowned scout responsible for discovering some of the brightest young talents in recent years. This move comes as the club also finalizes negotiations to restore the “Jeep” brand as its main shirt sponsor and plans to give Giorgio Chiellini and Francesco Calvo more operational roles within the management structure.

Tognozzi, who previously served as a key figure in Juventus’ scouting and youth recruitment, is best known for identifying and signing Kenan Yildiz and Dean Huijsen—two players who have become symbols of the club’s successful youth development strategy. After leaving Juventus in 2023 for a stint at Granada in Spain, Tognozzi is now a free agent, and Juventus is keen to secure his return to further strengthen its scouting department.

Kenan Yildiz, the Turkish attacking midfielder, joined Juventus in 2022 at the age of 17 after his contract with Bayern Munich expired. His arrival was a coup for the Bianconeri, who saw his potential early on. Dean Huijsen, a Dutch-born defender who was raised in Spain, arrived a year earlier from Malaga’s youth academy at just 16. Huijsen’s development has been particularly lucrative for Juventus; after a loan spell at Roma, he was sold to Bournemouth for over €15 million, with Juventus retaining a percentage on any future sale and a €50 million release clause in place.

Both Yildiz and Huijsen have attracted the attention of Bayern Munich, but Juventus are determined to keep Yildiz as a central part of its future plans.
