Juventus Face Contract Renewal Decision for Thuram: One of the Best, Yet Among the Lowest Paid

Khéphren Thuram has rapidly established himself as the standout midfielder in Juventus’ squad, yet his salary does not reflect his impact on the pitch. The Frenchman currently earns just 2 million euros per season, placing him among the lower earners in the Bianconeri dressing room despite being considered by many the most influential midfielder under Igor Tudor.

A Salary Gap That Stands Out

Looking at Juventus’ wage list for the 2025/26 season, Thuram’s earnings sit alongside Joao Mario’s and slightly above Rugani’s, while remaining below the likes of Filip Kostic and Lloyd Kelly. With teammates such as Vlahovic earning up to 12 million euros and new additions like Jonathan David on 6 million, the contrast is striking. For Juventus, it may soon be necessary to open talks on a renewal that includes a significant wage increase, especially given Thuram is tied to the club until June 2029.

Market Temptations and Loyalty to Juventus

Calciomercato report how, though his contract is long-term and Thuram has repeatedly expressed happiness in Turin, Juventus cannot ignore the growing interest from abroad. This past summer, clubs from Saudi Arabia were ready to invest 40–50 million euros for his signature and offer him a salary four times higher than his current one. Thuram, however, refused to even enter negotiations, directing his agent to close the door firmly on that possibility.

The threats do not end there. Paris Saint-Germain have also monitored the French international, viewing him as a potential replacement for Fabian Ruiz, whose extension remains uncertain. PSG’s interest underscores why Juventus must act quickly before outside offers create more serious pressure.

The Need for a Renewal

For a player who has become central to Juventus’ midfield balance and shown consistent growth since his arrival from Nice, a pay rise seems inevitable. Not only would it secure the player’s future in Turin, but it would also reward his loyalty and performances. In a squad where even squad rotation players earn higher wages, Thuram’s case stands out as a priority for the club to address.
