Juventus continue to explore multiple options in the transfer market as the club look to strengthen their squad depth ahead of the second half of the season. As Luciano Spalletti recently pointed out, some areas of the team remain light, prompting the Bianconeri to seek reinforcements capable of adding both quality and versatility.
While attacking profiles such as Federico Chiesa remain a talking point, the club’s management are also closely monitoring several players for the midfield and defensive flanks, particularly the right-back position. In that regard, a new name has emerged on their shortlist — Oscar Mingueza of Celta Vigo.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have already made initial contact with Celta Vigo regarding the Spanish defender. Mingueza, a 1999-born right-back, is currently out of contract at the end of the season, making him an appealing target both for this transfer window and beyond. The Italian club, however, would ideally like to secure his arrival as early as January.
Mingueza joined Celta Vigo from Barcelona, who still retain 50% of any future sale. For this reason, the Galician side are reluctant to let him leave mid-season without first identifying a suitable replacement. Juventus remain attentive to developments, with the player’s contractual situation giving them leverage should talks progress in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Celta Vigo are attempting to extend Mingueza’s deal, but if an attractive opportunity were to arise — such as a move to Turin — it could represent a significant step forward in his career. Alongside Mingueza, Juventus are also monitoring other expiring contracts, including that of Argentine defender Marcos Senesi, with further discussions expected soon.
