Juventus Make First Contact for Mandas as Perin Considers Genoa Return

Start

Mattia Perin could be on the verge of a new chapter in his career. The Juventus goalkeeper is seriously considering the possibility of returning to Genoa — the club where he made his name — as the Rossoblù push to bring him back to the Luigi Ferraris.

Perin Tempted by Genoa Comeback

Perin, now 33, remains a respected figure at Juventus and a key leader within Luciano Spalletti’s dressing room. The Bianconeri coach has often referred to him as “the influencer of the dressing room” because of his presence and professionalism.

However, despite the high regard in which he is held, Tuttosport report that Spalletti is unwilling to alter his goalkeeping hierarchy, with Michele Di Gregorio firmly established as the club’s first choice. That leaves Perin facing a difficult decision: continue as a reliable back-up or accept Genoa’s offer for one final prominent role.

At Genoa, Daniele De Rossi views Perin as the ideal profile to add stability and experience to a youthful squad brimming with potential. Having shared time together with the Italian national team, De Rossi is convinced that Perin’s return would strengthen both the team and the dressing room.

Juventus’ Stance and Market Plans

At Continassa, Juventus are not looking to force Perin out, but nor will they stand in his way should he wish to pursue the move. The club recognise that this could be his last major career opportunity and would be prepared to let him leave if a suitable replacement is found.

With Carlo Pinsoglio sidelined through injury, Juventus are already working on a contingency plan. Reports indicate that the club have made initial contact with Lazio regarding Greek goalkeeper Christos Mandas, born in 2001, who currently serves as backup to Ivan Provedel.

Goalkeeping Domino Effect

If Mandas were to move to Turin, Lazio could in turn look to sign Genoa’s Nicola Leali, setting off a potential chain reaction of transfers between the three clubs.

For now, the situation remains fluid, but Juventus’ willingness to open talks suggests that the January transfer window could bring a reshuffle between the posts — one that sees Perin return home and Mandas begin a new chapter in black and white.
