Rafik Belghali has emerged as one of the standout revelations of this Serie A season, and he could soon become the next major profit-maker for Hellas Verona. The Algerian defender has attracted interest from several top-flight clubs — with Juventus reportedly leading the chase.
TuttoJuve and Il Corriere dello Sport report that Initial contacts have already taken place to gauge Verona’s valuation for Belghali. Negotiations have picked up speed since his impressive goal against Atalanta last week, which appears to have accelerated Juventus’ interest in the 22-year-old.
However, any deal in the January transfer window is expected to be far from straightforward. The Bianconeri are not planning heavy spending in the winter market, while Verona value Belghali at around €15 million — roughly the same amount Juventus paid last summer for Joao Mario, who has so far failed to convince in Turin.
Belghali could ultimately replace the Portuguese full-back, but Verona are only open to a permanent transfer rather than a loan deal. For now, Juventus must decide whether to make a firm offer or wait until the summer window to secure one of Serie A’s most promising young defenders.
