Juventus Seek Attacking Spark: What Could Change After the International Break

Start

The Derby della Mole once again highlighted Juventus’ offensive struggles, and the international break may serve as a timely opportunity for reflection and reset. Luciano Spalletti now faces the challenge of reigniting his team’s attacking rhythm when the players return to Continassa later this week.

The squad began the new week with a rest day before resuming training on Thursday. Spalletti will have a larger group to work with than during the previous break, as players such as Thuram, Koopmeiners, and Gatti were not called up for national duty. This gives the coach the opportunity to focus on tactical adjustments and individual progress.

However, he will be without his full attacking department, as all of Juventus’ forwards have been summoned by their respective national teams. Once they return, Spalletti is expected to make the attack his top priority, especially after the stuttering display in the derby against Torino.

Tactical Adjustments

IlBianconero report that a major change could arrive after the international break – the system of play. While the defence seems set to move towards a back four, questions remain over how Spalletti will structure the midfield and attack. After the Torino match, the coach hinted at tactical flexibility, suggesting that both a two-striker system and a 4-3-3 formation are on the table.

Spalletti’s comments reflected openness rather than uncertainty. He encouraged his forwards to remain adaptable and ready to serve the team regardless of formation. The system, however, is only one part of the puzzle.

Game Time and Rotation

Equally important is the need to distribute playing time more effectively among his forwards. Dusan Vlahovic remains the leader of the frontline and has been Juventus’ most threatening player so far. Depending on tactical choices, he could be partnered with Openda or Jonathan David, or supported by Yildiz and one of Conceição or Zhegrova in a front three.

Attention will naturally fall on the summer signings, who have yet to find consistency or significant minutes. Their playing time will be a crucial factor in the coming weeks, and Spalletti must manage rotations carefully to ensure everyone stays sharp and motivated.

The upcoming matches will be decisive for several of these players, particularly Openda and David, who are expected to provide the attacking solutions Juventus need. Spalletti’s ability to unlock their potential could determine whether his new-look side finally finds the cutting edge it has been missing.
