Juventus Sweating Over Zhegrova’s Fitness: Spalletti Explains His Limited Game Time

Start

Juventus’ recent defeat to Napoli has raised several talking points, but one of the most discussed concerns is the reduced playing time of Edon Zhegrova. The Kosovan winger, introduced late in the match, came close to levelling the score — once again displaying the flair and technical quality that make him one of Luciano Spalletti’s most exciting attacking options. However, his sporadic appearances have a clear explanation: ongoing physical issues.

Spalletti on Zhegrova’s Condition

Speaking after the match (as reported by IlBianconero), Spalletti shed light on the player’s fitness troubles and the reasons behind his cautious usage. The Juventus manager explained that while there are no personal problems, Zhegrova is still recovering from a lengthy layoff.

According to Spalletti, the winger remains a devastating presence in the final third, but recent discomfort forced him to miss training sessions. As a result, the technical staff are easing him back gradually to avoid aggravating his condition. “He needs time to regain top rhythm,” Spalletti noted, “I’d like to use him more, but he must rediscover his form first.”

These words confirm that Zhegrova’s recovery is still in progress, and his minutes will continue to be carefully managed in the short term.

Impact Against Napoli

Despite playing only eight minutes, Zhegrova made his presence felt. He registered one shot on target (xG 0.08), completed both of his attempted dribbles, maintained an impressive 88% passing accuracy, and won two of his three ground duels.

His influence was particularly noticeable in the final third, where his pace and unpredictability added a spark that Juventus have often lacked in tight moments. His heatmap showed consistent activity down the right flank, with intelligent inward movements to overload central areas.

Looking Ahead

The Juventus coaching staff remain hopeful of a full recovery, aiming to reintroduce Zhegrova gradually while avoiding setbacks. If he can regain regular training rhythm and physical consistency, the 25-year-old could soon claim a more substantial role — and become a decisive figure once again for the Bianconeri.
