“Juventus Will Always Be Home”: Savona Opens Up on Life in England and His Advice to Yildiz

Start

Former Juventus defender Nicolò Savona is finding his feet in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest, embracing a major change that many Italian players have struggled to adapt to over the years. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Savona reflected on his move from Turin to Nottingham, his early experiences in England, and shared heartfelt words about his former club and teammates.

The Joy of Playing in the Premier League

“It was incredible to score against Manchester United at home. I still get emotional thinking about it,” Savona said. He revealed that several of his former Juventus teammates reached out to congratulate him after that moment. “Many of them wrote to me – I’ve built strong bonds with Bremer and Perin. Thiago Motta? I haven’t spoken to him, but there will be other opportunities.”

“Juventus Will Always Be Home”

Reflecting on his decision to leave Italy, Savona was clear about his attachment to the Bianconeri. “Juventus will always be home for me,” he said. “Right now, though, I’m focused on Nottingham Forest, where I’m having a beautiful experience. I feel good with my teammates, and I really like the atmosphere in England.”

He acknowledged that moving on from Juventus wasn’t an easy call but one he stands by. “In football and in life, you have to make choices. I’m happy with mine, and I thank my family and my agent for supporting me.”

A Message for Kenan Yildiz

Savona also gave a piece of advice to Juventus starlet Kenan Yildiz regarding the Premier League. “I’d recommend the Premier League to every young player who loves football,” he said. “It would be hard to say otherwise – so yes, to Kenan and any of my former teammates, I’d definitely suggest it.”

Praise for Douglas Luiz and Confidence in Spalletti

When asked about Douglas Luiz, Savona spoke highly of the midfielder now shining under Luciano Spalletti. “He was a great player even before; he’s strong now and he was strong at Juventus. Playing with him is fantastic – we have a good relationship.”

He also expressed confidence in Spalletti’s leadership at Juventus. “He’s a strong and experienced coach; his career speaks for itself. I’m sure he’ll prove it once again at Juventus.”
