Khephren Thuram: “Marcus looked at me with the eyes of a big brother, he was happy for me”

Khephren Thuram shared his delight after scoring in Juventus’ victory over Inter, reflecting on both the match and the special bond with his brother Marcus. Speaking to DAZN (as quoted by TuttoJuve) after the game, the midfielder explained how their connection made the moment even more emotional.

When asked about his celebration and the exchange with his brother, Thuram said:

“Not laughing, but he said well done with the eyes of a big brother. He didn’t want to laugh… not laugh… I don’t know how to put it, he looked at me with the eyes of a big brother and he was happy for me.”

Pressed on whether Marcus was proud but also a little disappointed on the night, he simply answered:

“Yes.”

Thuram also admitted there was an element of sibling rivalry in the way he scored:

“It’s true, but he also teases me about my heading, dad too, because I don’t score many headers. Tonight I’m happy to have scored with a header, really happy.”

The Frenchman then turned to the significance of overcoming a difficult challenge against a major rival:”Yes, it was difficult, because as I said before the match Inter are a great team, they have very strong midfielders who move well without the ball, which means we have to run a lot more. We did it well and in the end we won, we’re happy.”
