Kolo Muani to Juventus: Why the Move Looks Complicated

Start

Juventus remain on the hunt for a centre-forward, and once again, the name of Randal Kolo Muani has resurfaced. But is the French striker just another transfer rumour or a genuine option for the Bianconeri in the final days of the January window?

The Frenchman has been linked with the Turin club for three transfer sessions in a row. A year ago, Kolo Muani joined Juventus on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, only for the deal to fall through permanently in the summer. He eventually moved to Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day, yet his name is now back on Juve’s radar.

According to reports from IlBianconero, following the failed pursuit of Youssef En-Nesyri, Juventus have reopened their search for a number nine, with Kolo Muani among the players contacted.

A Juventus–PSG Reconciliation Needed

Last summer’s negotiations between Juventus and PSG over Kolo Muani dragged on for almost two months, spanning most of the transfer window. The lengthy talks ultimately collapsed, leading to frustration on both sides.

Rumours from France suggested that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi was irritated by the situation, though Juventus CEO Damien Comolli publicly denied claims of friction. Despite those denials, the failed move left a mark, and relations between the two clubs have since cooled.

For any renewed attempt to materialise, Juventus and PSG would first need to rebuild communication and overcome the tension that followed last summer’s impasse.

Tottenham’s Position

Complicating matters further is the involvement of Tottenham, where Kolo Muani is currently on loan. Spurs signed him on a paid short-term deal, spending around €5 million to bring him in from PSG.

For Juventus to have any chance of signing him this month, Tottenham would need to agree to terminate the loan early — an unlikely scenario unless they first secure another attacking reinforcement. Although Kolo Muani is not an undisputed starter, he continues to earn consistent playing time under Ange Postecoglou.

The Race Against Time

Time is another major obstacle. With just a week remaining before the transfer window closes, completing such a complex transaction involving three different clubs seems ambitious.

Juventus and PSG would still need to settle on the right structure for the deal — whether a straight loan like Tottenham’s or one including a purchase option or obligation. Each formula would carry different financial implications, and agreeing those terms in such a short timeframe would be no small feat.
