Fabio Miretti’s time at Juventus is drawing to a close. According to Calciomercato, the 23-year-old Italian international midfielder is firmly outside Luciano Spalletti’s first-choice plans and the club are fully prepared to sell him this summer — either for a straightforward capital gain or, as has been discussed throughout the window, as a makeweight in a larger incoming deal.
The latest club to register interest is Lazio. The Biancocelesti have identified Miretti as a potential midfield addition and have made their attraction to the player known — though a distance on the preferred formula between the two clubs is the current sticking point. Lazio’s preference, like that of several of the other clubs that have circled throughout the summer, is for a loan arrangement rather than an immediate permanent purchase. Juventus’s preference, equally consistent throughout, is for an outright sale that generates a clean capital gain on the balance sheet.
That structural disagreement — not the fee or the personal terms — is what separates the two sides at this stage. At €15 million, Miretti’s asking price is modest enough that it should not in itself prove an obstacle for a club of Lazio’s resources.
A Long Queue — and One Outstanding Possibility
Lazio join a list that has grown considerably over the summer without yet producing a conclusion. Bologna, Fiorentina, Sassuolo, Como, Parma, and Cagliari have all expressed varying degrees of interest in Miretti at different stages of the window, and the persistent attention confirms that his profile — a technically gifted, Italy Under-21 graduate with genuine Serie A experience — is valued by the domestic market. The sidebar on the Calciomercato page also notes the still-live possibility of Miretti being included in the Lucumí negotiation with Bologna, should the Emilian club accept a player-plus-cash formula in place of the straight cash deal they have so far insisted upon.
For Miretti himself, who has always been a model professional at the Continassa, a fresh start somewhere he is valued and will play regularly is precisely what his development demands at this stage of his career. Lazio’s interest is the latest, and perhaps the most credible yet, route to that outcome.
