Muharemović One Step Away from Juventus Return — Yıldız’s Personal Push Proves Decisive as Inter Are Pipped at the Post

Juventus have beaten Inter Milan in the race for Tarik Muharemović, with the Bosnian centre-back now on the verge of returning to the club where he first made his name in professional football. According to Tuttosport, whilst a few final details remain to be resolved before signatures are exchanged, the deal with Sassuolo is advancing rapidly — with confirmation expected between the end of this week and the beginning of next.

A Comeback Three Years in the Making

Muharemović, born in Ljubljana in 2003, is intimately familiar with the Continassa having spent time in both the Juventus Primavera and the Next Gen before his move to Sassuolo. His development in Emilia has been remarkable — transforming from a promising academy product into one of Serie A’s most coveted young centre-backs and a key figure for Bosnia and Herzegovina at the World Cup in the United States.

The fee is understood to be €18 million — a figure that, thanks to the 50% sell-on clause Juventus retained when they originally sold him to Sassuolo, represents a net outlay of approximately half that sum. It is the kind of financially intelligent, long-term thinking that defines the Carnevali method in its purest form.

Yıldız’s Role: More Than a Footnote

One of the most charming details to emerge from the reporting is the role played by Kenan Yıldız in convincing Muharemović that a return to Turin was the right move. The two are close friends from their time together in the Juventus academy — and Yıldız’s personal insistence, alongside Carnevali’s professional relationship with the player from Sassuolo, appears to have been a genuinely decisive factor in tipping the balance in Juventus’s favour.

Inter Beaten to the Punch

The competitive significance of the deal extends beyond its defensive merits. Inter had been tracking Muharemović for several months, with the Nerazzurri regarded as serious contenders for his signature. Juventus moved faster, leveraged their existing financial advantage, and delivered a result before Inter could respond. As Tuttosport puts it, Spalletti will have the defensive reinforcement he has been requesting — and Juventus win the first Derby d’Italia of the 2026-27 season before a ball has even been kicked.
