Douglas Luiz

Nottingham Forest Renew Pursuit of Douglas Luiz: The Terms and Stakes

Start

Nottingham Forest have revived their interest in signing Douglas Luiz, the Brazilian midfielder currently at Juventus. IlBianconero report that following initial talks earlier in the year, Forest have reopened negotiations, presenting a proposal cantered on a loan with a purchase option that could convert to an obligation if certain conditions are met.

The Offer Structure

Forest’s approach is based on bringing Luiz in on a temporary deal, with the right to make the transfer permanent at a later stage—potentially becoming obligatory depending on performance or appearance milestones. This model appeals to Forest as it allows for financial flexibility, spreading the investment over time rather than committing to an immediate outlay.

Juventus’ Stance

Juventus, meanwhile, have made clear that their preference is for a straightforward sale. Eager to conclude Luiz’s departure quickly and decisively, the club have placed a price tag of around €40 million on the midfielder. The Italian side are not inclined to accept installments or deferred payments, and have thus far rejected loan-based offers from Forest.

Luiz’s Situation

Having missed the start of pre-season preparations, Luiz has now returned to training with Juventus. However, he remains on the fringes of the first-team setup and is not considered a central figure in coach Igor Tudor’s plans for the coming season. Juventus are open to serious proposals and are awaiting an offer that matches their expectations.

The Deadlock

The two clubs remain at an impasse over the structure of the transfer. Forest are determined not to rush into an outright purchase, preferring to mitigate risk, while Juventus are adamant about securing a definitive sale, both to recoup value and to manage their squad effectively. Until a deal can be found that bridges this gap, Luiz’s future remains unresolved.
