“Penalty on Cabal? Juventus Want Answers”: Club Frustrated and Seeking Clarification After Latest Refereeing Controversy

The controversy surrounding the unawarded penalty on Cabal during Juventus’s clash with Lazio has stirred frustration within the Turin club. Tuttosport report how the incident — an apparent foul by Gila on Cabal with the score still at 0–0 — has reignited concerns among Juventus officials about a series of unfavourable refereeing decisions that have marked their season so far.

Juventus Express Their Displeasure

According to reports, Juventus’s management has privately voiced its dissatisfaction with what it perceives as inconsistent officiating in crucial league matches. Although the club deliberately chose not to make public statements or provoke polemics, sources indicate that they have formally asked the refereeing authorities for clarification.

The goal, according to the club, is not confrontation, but understanding — specifically, how decisions are being judged and whether consistent criteria are being applied. Nevertheless, the sentiment inside the club is one of growing irritation after several controversial calls have gone against them this season.

The Incidents Under Scrutiny

Four cases in particular have drawn Juventus’s attention.

– The first two occurred during the match against Verona: Joao Mario’s accidental handball, deemed a punishable offense, and a clear elbow from Orban on Gatti that was curiously sanctioned with only a yellow card.

– The other two involve Lazio — both featuring defender Mario Gila. In the reverse fixture, he appeared to step on Conceição inside the box without consequence. Then, in the most recent match, history repeated itself: Gila’s challenge on Cabal went unpunished, with neither the referee Guida nor VAR intervening.
