Mattia Perin’s long-awaited return to Genoa appears closer than ever, with the Juventus goalkeeper pushing for a move back to the club where he made his name. The January transfer window for the Bianconeri could begin with an exit, as negotiations progress rapidly between the two sides.
Full Agreement Between Perin and Genoa
IlBianconero report that an agreement between Perin and Genoa has already been reached in full, with the 32-year-old eager to finalise the deal as soon as possible. The Italian goalkeeper is reportedly determined to rejoin the Rossoblù and commit himself wholeheartedly to Daniele De Rossi’s project.
Perin has a long history with the club, having defended Genoa’s goal from 2013 to 2018 and again between January 2020 and the summer of 2021. In total, he has made 204 competitive appearances for the Ligurian outfit, becoming a fan favourite during his previous spells.
One Final Step to Complete the Transfer
The main obstacle now lies in the final details between Juventus and Genoa. The two clubs have come close to reaching an agreement on Perin’s valuation, yet a gap of around €1 million remains before the move can be confirmed.
Beyond the financial aspect, Juventus are taking time to identify a suitable replacement before giving the final green light. Only once a new back-up goalkeeper is secured will the Bianconeri sanction Perin’s departure.
Juventus Search for a Successor
Preparations for life after Perin are already underway in Turin. Among the candidates being considered is Nicola Leali, a former Juventus academy graduate whose return would be beneficial from a squad registration perspective. Leali, currently at Ascoli, could make the move in the opposite direction if negotiations progress.
Another option on the club’s radar is Christos Mandas, Lazio’s second-choice goalkeeper. However, Juventus’ recruitment team is also believed to be quietly assessing several other potential targets before making a final decision.
