Juventus manager Thiago Motta faced the media following his team’s disappointing 3-0 loss to Fiorentina in Serie A. The defeat at the Stadio Artemio Franchi marked another setback for the struggling Turin giants, who have now conceded seven goals in their last two matches.
Speaking to Sky Sport after the game, Motta acknowledged the team’s poor performance: “It was a bit of a continuation of the last match. Today, like last time, we couldn’t react to the first difficulty. We need to improve; today we weren’t strong in either phase of the game.”
When questioned about the possibility of resigning, Motta stood firm: “That would be too easy, and I don’t like easy things. We need to win to reach the top four in the league.”
The manager refused to single out individual players for criticism, emphasizing the need for a collective response: “I won’t point fingers at one player or another; we need to get out of this together.”
Addressing his tactical choices, particularly the deployment of Nico Gonzalez, Motta explained: “I choose based on what the team needs. We needed to open up the field on the left, and he did that very well. He has already played a lot in that position.”
Motta concluded by highlighting the urgent need to address the team’s defensive frailties: “We need balance in the defensive phase. We’ve conceded seven goals in two games. We need to fix that.”
