Roma have added Nico González to their list of wide attacking targets as Gian Piero Gasperini builds the squad he has explicitly requested for next season. The Giallorossi manager has been clear about his needs: a centre-back, two wide players, and a striker. With Santiago Castro and Konstantinos Koulierakis already confirmed, sporting director Tony D’Amico has turned his full attention to the attacking flank — and the list of candidates is growing by the hour.
Endrick First — But González Has Emerged as an Alternative
Roma’s primary target for the wide forward role has been Endrick, on loan from Real Madrid. Those discussions continue, with the club negotiating loan terms with the Spanish giants for the young Brazilian. But alongside that headline pursuit, a second name has now emerged: Nico González of Juventus.
The Argentine winger returned to the Continassa after his loan spell at Atletico Madrid ended this summer — a stay that saw Diego Simeone lobby hard for a permanent deal but which ultimately did not materialise at the price Juventus were asking. With Gasperini known to be a long-standing admirer of González — and with the player himself potentially open to remaining in Italy — Roma have made enquiries about his availability.
Juventus’s Position: €27-28 Million and Not a Cent Less
Carnevali’s stance on González has been entirely consistent since the very first day of his tenure: the Argentine is not for sale below €27-28 million, the player has value on the pitch under Spalletti, and the club will not be pressured into a discount by any buyer. That position has not changed. Roma’s interest, however genuine, will need to be backed by a proposal that meets that valuation before Juventus enter any serious conversation.
With Kolo Muani and Alajbegovic now confirmed, González’s route to regular first-team minutes at the Continassa has become considerably more congested. Spalletti has Yıldız, Boga, Conceição, Alajbegovic, and Kolo Muani all competing for attacking positions — and finding meaningful minutes for an additional wide forward in that environment will be a genuine challenge. Should a club arrive at Carnevali’s price, the decision becomes considerably more straightforward than it might have appeared a month ago.
