Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has offered insight into the club’s transfer plans ahead of the January window, addressing growing interest in Tarik Muharemovic and revisiting the story of Davide Frattesi’s move to Inter.
Speaking in a recent interview with Tuttosport, Carnevali confirmed that both Inter and Bologna have shown interest in Muharemovic, but insisted Sassuolo are under no pressure to sell the talented defender.
Muharemovic Attracting Attention
“Muharemovic is not a player we must sell,” Carnevali explained. “We want to help him grow. At the moment, he doesn’t have a set price because much depends on who comes forward. He has great potential, and it’s normal that big clubs take notice. If a major offer arrives, we’ll listen — but we also need to find a suitable replacement.”
He went on to reveal that Inter have been in contact, though no formal offers have been received. “There’s been some contact with Inter, nothing official yet,” he said. “Bologna also asked about him recently. As for talk of Juventus benefiting from a resale clause, I’m focused on our own market, not Juventus’ situation. Though, who knows — Muharemovic might even interest Juventus directly.”
Praise for Frattesi and Spalletti
Carnevali also spoke fondly about former Sassuolo star Davide Frattesi, now at Inter, and his compatibility with Italy coach Luciano Spalletti’s system.
“Frattesi is a player I love — if I were at a big club, I would sign him every time,” he said. “Juventus wanted him when he joined Inter, as did Napoli, but Inter were simply more determined, and the player’s will made the difference. Inter have many champions, yet Frattesi always performs well. If he plays regularly, he’ll keep improving. And if he ever wants to come back, we’d gladly take him here again,” he added with a smile.
Relationship with Juventus Leadership
Carnevali also touched on his relationship with Juventus, mentioning his good rapport with club legend Giorgio Chiellini. “I haven’t met or spoken with Comolli yet,” he clarified. “I know President Ferrero and have a good relationship with Chiellini — he always remembers that I once said I would have liked to see him at Sassuolo. He’s got the qualities to become a great executive and a real desire to learn. For now, whenever I need to speak with Juventus, I turn to him.”
