Dejan Savicevic was the special guest at a Panini event in Milan to promote the Calciatori 2025/26 sticker album. Speaking to Sky Sport, the former AC Milan star — now president of the Montenegrin Football Federation — shared his views on Milan’s current form under Max Allegri, Rafael Leao’s role and number 10 shirt, and the uncertain future of his compatriot Nikola Adzic at Juventus.
“Allegri’s Milan Will Fight for the Scudetto”
“It’s more difficult now compared to his first spell, when he had players of higher quality,” Savicevic remarked. “He’s doing well and I think Milan will fight for the Scudetto until the end. He knows how to manage the team — he’s moved Leao into a central role, and the Rossoneri are battling hard.”
“Leao Deserved the Number 10”
“He earned it after winning the league title,” said Savicevic. “He’s a great player. He performs better on the left wing, but right now Milan lack real quality up front, and that’s why Allegri has moved him into the striker position. He’s doing well there.”
“I Told Adzic to Leave Juventus”
Turning to national compatriot Nikola Adzic, Savicevic revealed a behind-the-scenes story about the winger’s struggles in Turin. “He’s going through a tough period. In June, he should have left Juventus to join a mid-table Serie A team for a year. That way he would have gained consistency and confidence. He hardly played last season. After his goal against Inter, I expected he’d get more minutes, but it didn’t happen.
“He can’t play so little — he has great quality, but first he needs to play elsewhere for a year and then return to Juventus. Six months ago I already told him to do this, but he didn’t listen. He told me they’d assured him he’d get more playing time — but I knew how it would go. He and his agents were convinced otherwise. Now I’m afraid that if he doesn’t move, he’ll lose his edge.”
Savicevic also revealed that coach Igor Tudor had told Adzic he would have more opportunities this season, which influenced the player’s decision to stay in Turin.
“Vlahovic to Milan? Not Now, Maybe in June”
Discussing the prospect of Dusan Vlahovic moving to Milan, Savicevic told *Milan News*: “Vlahovic? Not now — he’s coming off a serious injury. Milan need a striker who’s ready immediately. But from June onwards, yes, he could be an option.”
“Maignan Should Stay at Milan”
When asked about the future of Milan’s goalkeeper, Savicevic made his stance clear. “Change? What change? It all depends on him. He’s already shown he’s a great goalkeeper. I’d like him to stay at Milan, but it depends on the club and his own desire to remain.”
