Juventus v Roma

Serie A | Juventus 2-1 Roma: Player Ratings

Juventus could have scored five against Roma but ultimately settled for a hard fought 2-1 victory, with goals from Openda and Conceicao

Juventus

Di Gegorio: Had little to do in the first half. Made a good stop but could do nothing on the follow up on Roma’s goal. Had a late scare but he was more than up to the task. 6.0/10

Kalulu: Measured and composed, more vocal and looked more comfortable with Bremer back next to him. 6.0/10

Kelly: Did well in the first half and put in some decent challenges, not least snuffing out Mancini.  6.5/10

Bremer: Finally back in the starting XI and given the unenviable task of guarding Dybala. Did a foot perfect job in the first half, marshalling the Argentine and restricting him to half chances. 7.0/10

Cambiaso: Seemingly took Spalletti’s comments on board and played a vital role, including the assist for the opener. Forced a good save from the keeper as the second half got going.  7.0/10

Thuram:.Better than he has been in recent weeks. Some smart touches, but he should have done better when Openda set him up.  6.0/10

Locatelli: Dropped deep and helped relieve some of the constant Roma pressure.  6.0/10

Mckennie: Put in a hard working shift as he always does and provided the assist for Juve’s second. 6.5/10

Yildiz: Very smart movement on and off the ball, created a half chance for Conceicao before helping setup the opening goal. Hit the post twice and would have a brace on another night. 6.5/10

⭐ Conceicao: A little too quiet in the early exchanges and he picked up a needless booking. Had a brilliant chance to put Juventus ahead…. And then scored from an almost identical chance. Almost set up Yildiz for 2-0 at the start of the second half. Once he got going, he was sublime. A shame he had to be subbed off.  7.5/10

Openda:. Showed a brilliant turn of pace and had two decent chances in the first half. Constantly sprinting around the pitch and in the right spot to score Juve’s second. Excellent shift. 7.0/10

Spalletti: Set up his team just right and marched to nullify a high pressing Roma side. Timed his substitutions perfectly and saw out a big win to get Juventus back into the top of the table. 8/10

Substitutions

Rugani: Helped shore up the back line after coming on for Bremer. 6.0/10

Zhegrova: Came on for Conceicao and had an immediate impact, not least supplying a brilliant cross that helped setup the second goal. Needed to do better on the Roma goal. 6.0/10
