Juventus have completed the signing of Shane Van Aarle, the highly rated Dutch centre-back from FC Eindhoven. The 18-year-old, born in 2006, is set to join the Bianconeri’s Next Gen squad in Serie C, marking a significant step in his young career.
Deal Finalized and Ready for Turin
After weeks of negotiations, all agreements have been reached and documents signed between Juventus and FC Eindhoven. Van Aarle, who has developed through the Dutch club’s youth system and featured for their Primavera side this season, will soon be officially announced as a Juventus player. He will immediately join the Next Gen squad, following in the footsteps of young talents like Kenan Yildiz, Dean Huijsen, Matías Soulé, and Fabio Miretti, who have all risen through the ranks of Juventus’ Under 23 project.
A New Challenge in Italy
Van Aarle, a left-footed central defender with an imposing 6’5” frame, has impressed with his performances in the Eerste Divisie and for the Netherlands U19 national team. Juventus’ plan is clear: he will start with the Next Gen team in Serie C, with the goal of adapting to Italian football and working his way up to the first team.
Van Aarle’s First Words: “It Feels Like a Dream”
Speaking to ESPN, Van Aarle shared his excitement and anticipation for the move:
“Now a really important step awaits me. It’s not all done yet, but it’s almost all set with Juventus. I can’t wait to get started. At the beginning of the season, I was still playing with the Under 19s and Under 20s, and I never thought there would be so much interest. Then, with good performances at Eindhoven and with the Netherlands U19, it became hard to stay focused when a club like Juventus shows interest, but I tried my best. I found out about a month ago through my agent, and it was exciting. But I tried to keep my feet on the ground.
I’ve been to Italy: it was really nice. I still have to learn the language, but I’m starting. I visited the training center and it’s really on another level compared to Eindhoven. The plan is to start with the B team in Serie C and then try to move up. It’s an important step, also a bit scary. It’s a different kind of football, but I want to adapt and give my best. All of this feels like a childhood dream. I still can’t quite believe it, but yes, it’s really a beautiful step.”
