Frustration reigned in the Juventus camp after Pierre Kalulu’s controversial sending-off against Inter, a decision that left players and staff struggling to hide their disbelief. While the team on the pitch managed to keep their composure — with Kalulu himself pleading for a VAR review that could not be used — the anger from the Juventus management emerged forcefully at half-time.
According to reports, Giorgio Chiellini, Damien Comolli and François Modesto were among those who voiced their dissatisfaction as the players returned to the dressing rooms. It was, however, head coach Luciano Spalletti who delivered the most striking remark of the evening.
As relayed by La Stampa (as quoted by IlBianconero), Spalletti is said to have confronted referee Federico La Penna upon re-entering the tunnel, saying to him: “You’ve ruined the match!” His outburst reportedly came after watching replays of Kalulu’s second yellow card — a decision widely considered excessive and pivotal to the game’s outcome.
Despite the surge of anger within the Juventus ranks, it was ultimately Spalletti himself who calmed tempers. The coach, aware of the need to prevent further repercussions, is believed to have led the club’s directors away from the heated confrontation, restoring order after a tense few minutes.
