Luciano Spalletti was officially unveiled today as the new head coach of Juventus during a press conference held at the Allianz Stadium. The event marked his first public appearance since signing with the Bianconeri, and it came on the eve of his debut match in charge — away to Cremonese at the Stadio Giovanni Zini on Saturday, 1 November.
The former Italy manager spoke with composure and conviction, outlining his vision for the team and the ambitious goals that lie ahead. “It’s a wonderful feeling because we all know what this club stands for,” he began. “The history, the organisation, and the expectations — everything here demands excellence. But once you step inside, it’s even more beautiful.”
A New Chapter with Respect and Determination
Spalletti paid tribute to his predecessor, Igor Tudor, acknowledging the foundations already laid: “I have great respect for the work done by Tudor, whom I greet warmly. I’ve had the opportunity to get to know him — he’s a wonderful person and a true professional. I’m sure I’ll find a team in good mental condition because of the professionalism of those before me.”
He emphasised the importance of reviving Juventus’s competitive edge: “Our ambition must be to bring this club back to the highest level. We have to work hard and push towards those ambitions. I’m happy to be here and I thank Director Comolli for his support — he insists I speak Italian with him, which helps me stay connected with what I say.”
“This Squad Has Potential”
Addressing the quality of the current squad, Spalletti was resolute: “The fact that I accepted this job says it all. If I didn’t believe the team had potential, why would I take an eight-month contract? I’m convinced we can do a good job because results come from discipline, self-awareness, and collective will. The first step is to get back into the Champions League — Juventus must be there.”
Spalletti also confirmed the composition of his technical team: “I’ve brought four collaborators — Domenichini, Martusciello, Russo, and Sinatti. We know each other well and their professionalism is unquestionable. I also want to thank Daniele Baldini, who has decided to end his journey as my assistant. He’s been brilliant, and I’ve learned so much from him.”
Goals, Offence, and Togetherness
Discussing his attacking philosophy, the coach was characteristically candid: “It’s part of my job to help players score goals — football is about that. A coach might influence the numbers, but goals win matches. We must be a team that knows what to do in every situation. If we’re stretched and disorganised, it becomes impossible. Everything about this challenge motivates me.”
Asked about his light-hearted exchange with goalkeeper Mattia Perin, Spalletti clarified, “It was just a joke. I told the players ‘it will depend on you’, because ultimately it’s their quality that makes the difference. I don’t need security about my future — I prefer that everything depends on the results. It’s an honest, simple understanding with the club.”
Aiming High
When pressed about Juventus’s league ambitions, Spalletti made his intentions clear: “We were talking in the dressing room yesterday — our goal must be to get back into the Scudetto race. Nine matches have been played, 29 remain, and in football I’ve seen everything. We’ll see where we stand at the end, but I have total respect for the quality of this squad.”
Focus on Vlahović and Tactical Flexibility
On striker Dusan Vlahović, the new manager praised his attitude: “I’ve imposed nothing on anyone. I look at what players do and how they act. Judging from his last match, Vlahović’s attitude was perfect — performances like that set everything right.”
As for formations, Spalletti kept his cards close to his chest: “Today will be my first training session. Out of respect for the previous work, we might keep continuity. But telling opponents everything wouldn’t be wise. Some players may need to show flexibility, and we’ll experiment with some new ideas.”
Spalletti’s first match in charge promises a symbolic new beginning for Juventus — one built on ambition, unity, and the belief that glory can return under his leadership.
