“The Juventus Is My Home — I’d Accept Straight Away”: Danilo Speaks Ahead of His Return to the Allianz Stadium

Start

A year after his departure, former Juventus captain Danilo returned to the Allianz Stadium, this time as a guest for the Bianconeri’s clash against Lecce. Speaking to DAZN before the match, the Brazilian defender reflected on his time in Turin, his emotional return, and his enduring bond with the club.

Emotional Return

“I was just telling Matteo Fabris that I’m nervous,” Danilo admitted. “I have experienced so many emotions here and so many special moments.”

The veteran defender was warmly welcomed back by the Juventus supporters, recognising the significance of the club in his career and personal growth.

A Remarkable Career

“You don’t plan these things,” he explained. “You just have to work every day and keep improving. Then, at the end of the years, you look back and see what you’ve achieved. Fortunately, I’ve had an important career. I’ve worked hard and made sacrifices. I’m happy that players like Bremer, who has a bright future ahead, can learn a little from my experience. Playing at a World Cup together? Maybe.”

Back at the Stadium and Farewell

“To work in football, both on and off the pitch, there are levels,” said Danilo. “I have to thank Chiellini and the directors who have taken charge now — they have a clearer vision. Working at Juventus is not for everyone. I came back here willingly, it makes me happy to be among my people and on a pitch where I’ve lived so many emotions. I’m truly happy.”

The Juventus Spirit

“For me, Juventus is where I truly learned to play football for a badge, for the fans, for the staff — for every person connected to the club,” he said. “That’s not something to take for granted. It’s important and it pushes you when you’re on the pitch.”

Would He Return to Juventus?

Danilo smiled when asked the question so many supporters wanted to hear. “Yes, I wouldn’t even think twice,” he said. “I still have one more year with Flamengo, which is important. Then, I don’t know if I’ll still have the right mindset to keep playing. A future off the pitch is waiting for me — but Juventus is my home, I wouldn’t think twice about it.”
