Sandro Tonali continues to be one of the most talked-about names ahead of the summer transfer window. Despite strong interest from Arsenal in January, the Italian midfielder stayed with Newcastle United, where he remains focused on his season in the Premier League.
Tonali’s agent, Beppe Riso, has spoken about his client’s situation and the speculation surrounding a potential move back to Serie A — particularly Juventus, who are known admirers of the former Milan midfielder.
On Tonali’s future
Asked about Tonali’s prospects and the timing of any discussions regarding a transfer, Riso struck a calm and measured tone. “Newcastle are not in a position to let Sandro go, and he wants to take the club to the Champions League,” he explained. “These transfer talks will happen later on. We’ll see how the season ends and then evaluate what to do.”
On the Juventus links
When pressed on the possibility of a return to Italy and the repeated rumours linking Tonali with Juventus, Riso responded cautiously. “There’s no preference at the moment. It’s still too early. What we say today might not be valid tomorrow,” he said. “Right now, Newcastle couldn’t afford to lose him, and it wasn’t the right moment for a move. Sandro is very attached to the club. We’ll assess everything in the summer.”
A word on young talents
Turning to the younger players he represents, Riso highlighted one name in particular from Juventus’ youth setup. “At Juve there’s Pipitò, a 2010-born player who’s really strong,” he revealed. “But I’m also curious to see how Venturino develops at Roma — Lorenzo has great qualities, and with a coach like Gasperini, he can really bring them out.”
On Frattesi and Inter
Riso also addressed Davide Frattesi’s situation at Inter, noting that several clubs — including Lazio and Nottingham Forest — had shown interest in the midfielder during the winter window. “Lazio made a serious attempt, and there were also inquiries from abroad,” he said. “It’s normal for Davide to want more playing time — every top player feels that way. But Inter never considered letting him go, and Davide is happy to stay. He’s feeling good and back to full fitness. There’s a special bond between Frattesi and Inter; you could say they find it hard to be without each other.”
