Juventus coach Igor Tudor spoke to DAZN after his team’s 1-1 draw with Roma, acknowledging defensive vulnerabilities while expressing optimism about their progress under his leadership.
On Roma’s Equaliser from a Corner
“We conceded a goal from a corner—we need to give up fewer chances. Today we were missing Bremer, Gatti, and Cabal. A lot depends on the players’ physical structure, but clearly, we must pay more attention. I relied on their existing defensive approach for now, but we’ll see how we adjust moving forward. There’s definitely room for improvement.”
Positive Signs Despite the Draw
“I really liked the first half—we pressed well and showed promising ideas. The corner goal was a small detail, but I think we finished strong. We pushed with Cambiaso and Kolo [Muani], and while we always want to win, considering the team’s recent situation—not just physically but mentally—this draw gives us confidence to work even harder and grow.”
Praising the Team’s Mentality
“Locatelli’s goal was top quality—that’s what makes the difference. We aimed to attack with width but avoid counterattacks. Preventive work is key, and Roma are dangerous on the break. We started well; coming here wasn’t a given. I loved the approach—we played with energy, awareness, and the right mindset.”
Balancing Emotion and Focus
“I’ve only been here about ten days. Of course, the initial excitement fades, but this job is still beautiful. The challenge is staying focused—there’s little time to enjoy moments. From the outside, it might seem easier.”
A Nostalgic Journey to Rome
“I drove to Rome this time—it’s normal, I wanted to avoid the flight. How long did it take? Ten hours. Back in ’98, when I first joined Juventus, I arrived by car too.”
