Vlahovic Injury Could Reshape His Juventus Future

Start

Dusan Vlahovic faces an extended spell on the sidelines, with the exact duration to be determined by the medical tests scheduled today. His latest setback doesn’t just affect Juventus in the short term—it could also have long-term implications for both the player and the club.

On the eve of the Coppa Italia tie against Udinese, all eyes are on the striker’s condition. Early indications suggest the injury could keep him out for several weeks, potentially forcing Juventus and Vlahovic to rethink their plans as his contract approaches expiry. From February, the Serbian forward will technically be free to negotiate with other clubs, yet his current situation complicates matters.

No January Departure

One thing is already clear: Vlahovic will not leave Juventus during the January transfer window. IlBianconero report that even before the injury, both parties had intended to continue together until the end of the season before reassessing their options. If medical tests confirm a significant layoff extending into late January or early February, any potential move this winter becomes entirely unrealistic.

For Juventus, this continuity may bring stability at a time when consistency is needed most. For Vlahovic, it offers a chance—once recovered—to reaffirm his importance to the club in what could be a crucial stretch of the campaign.

Interest from Top Clubs Cooling Off?

Before this setback, several European giants—most notably Barcelona and Bayern Munich—had shown tentative interest in Vlahovic as a potential free transfer target. Now, that scenario is less straightforward. Unable to play or showcase his form, the Juventus number nine could struggle to maintain visibility among elite clubs planning their summer moves.

Ironically, this could strengthen Juventus’ position in eventual renewal talks. With reduced external pressure and more time for negotiation, the club can reassess both its financial plans and sporting priorities without imminent risk of losing a star asset.

Juventus’ Strategic Outlook

For now, Spalletti and his staff will focus on finding solutions without Vlahovic. He has been their most used and reliable striker so far this season, but his absence opens the door for others like Jonathan David and Loïs Openda to step forward. Their performances could significantly shape Juventus’ approach to the next transfer window.

If the team adapts effectively, the club may reconsider how essential Vlahovic truly is to their future plans. Conversely, if his absence exposes a clear gap in quality, Juventus could feel more urgency to secure his long-term commitment. Either way, the next few months will go a long way in defining both the striker’s recovery and his future in Turin.
