Vlahovic

Vlahović’s Future in the Balance: Barcelona the Dream, Besiktas on Hold, Milan Watching

Dušan Vlahović’s contract with Juventus expires on 30 June — in just two days’ time. Despite a final, last-ditch attempt by the club to find a financial formula that would keep him at the Allianz Stadium, the Serbian striker will be leaving Turin as a free agent. What remains entirely unclear, as of this morning, is where he will be going next.

The Juventus Chapter Closes

The split was not made for want of effort on Carnevali’s part. The new chief executive made a genuine, personal attempt to reopen negotiations that had broken down under the previous administration, meeting with Vlahović’s father Miloš and even placing an improved one-year offer on the table at €8 million — the figure the player had originally demanded. It was not enough. After four and a half years in Turin, in which the Serbian scored 88 goals in 198 appearances, the relationship has run its course.

Barcelona: The Dream That Has Not Entirely Disappeared

The most surprising element of the current picture is that Vlahović’s entourage have not abandoned hope of a move to Barcelona. The Catalan club would represent the dream destination for the 26-year-old — a Champions League club of the highest pedigree, a footballing identity built on attack, and a manager in Hansi Flick who has demonstrated a clear willingness to recruit a powerful centre-forward. Vlahović has been put forward as an option, and while no concrete offer has materialised, the conversation is understood to remain open. At zero transfer cost, his financial profile becomes considerably more accessible to a club managing its own significant wage structure.

Besiktas: Serious but on Standby

Vincenzo Italiano’s Besiktas remain in the picture, having made the most concrete proposal to date — €10 million per season plus a substantial signing bonus. However, Vlahović’s camp have placed that option in a holding pattern whilst they explore the alternatives. The Turkish league, for all its financial appeal, is not where Vlahović sees his story going at 26 — and his entourage are determined to exhaust every elite European option before committing to Istanbul.

Milan: Watching, but Cautious

AC Milan’s interest is real but heavily qualified. The club are aware of Vlahović’s availability and have registered his situation, but any move would need to fit within their own significant financial constraints and new footballing direction under incoming manager Sérgio Conceição. Milan have other attacking priorities and are unlikely to move unless the financial terms are genuinely manageable — which, given Vlahović’s salary demands, is far from guaranteed.

A Free Agent on the Eve of a New Chapter

As the clock ticks towards 30 June, Vlahović finds himself in the paradoxical position of being one of European football’s most sought-after free agents whilst simultaneously lacking a clear destination. The market will open properly on 1 July — and with it, the real negotiation for his future will begin. Barcelona remains the dream. Reality, as ever, may offer something rather different.
