Corriere dello Sport journalist Ivan Zazzaroni, speaking live on Pressing, addressed the current situation at Juventus and the speculation surrounding Thiago Motta’s position as head coach.
Zazzaroni emphasized the importance of results over attitude, stating, “Attitude isn’t important, only results count. If you’ve invested in Thiago Motta, who is young and did well last year, you chose him, so you’re the primary responsible party. You must give him a second chance. Otherwise, you’re not capable of doing your job.”
Addressing concerns about Motta’s adaptation to a big club, Zazzaroni pointed out, “Does he need to get used to a big club? At 18, he was at Barcelona; he’s always lived in high-level clubs. Perhaps Juve is more important than him, but it’s very different.”
Zazzaroni revealed that Motta had requested and received maximum autonomy from the club. “Thiago Motta is the image of Juventus. This is who he is, that’s why he spoke. The day he can find more presence from the club, then it’s different. At Bologna, he didn’t talk with the club; he already had the idea of going elsewhere. He was doing such important things, and they said: don’t touch anything.”
However, Motta’s position at Juventus appears precarious, with the outcome of the match against Hellas Verona potentially decisive for his future. Recent disappointments, including eliminations from the Champions League and Coppa Italia at the hands of Empoli, have heightened scrutiny despite the team’s fourth-place standing in Serie A.
According to reports, the club’s management is carefully evaluating the situation, and a negative result against Verona could lead to drastic decisions regarding the technical leadership.
