The summer transfer market is entering its decisive phase, but Edon Zhegrova may ultimately remain at Lille. In recent statements, club president Olivier Létang expressed optimism (as quoted by ilbianconero) about the Kosovar winger’s future in France, speaking of “good chances” that he will stay despite strong interest from Juventus.
Létang publicly acknowledged contacts with the Italian club, admitting conversations with Juventus sporting director Francesco Calvo, yet clarified that no formal offer has been made. The 25-year-old, whose contract expires next year, continues to attract attention across Europe, with Marseille also following him closely. For Juventus, any potential deal would depend on making room in the squad, specifically by moving Nico Gonzalez, and committing an investment of around twenty million euros.
“I am a friend of Comolli and have spoken to him frequently since he arrived in Italy. A few weeks ago we discussed Zhegrova, but as of now I have not received an official proposal. I can say that the player will remain with us this season,” Létang told reporters during a press conference.
On his side, Lille coach Bruno Genesio echoed the president’s remarks while giving an update on the winger’s condition. Zhegrova has been sidelined since mid-December due to injury and is still regaining his fitness. “He hasn’t played since December 14 and needs to recover his match rhythm. This week he rejoined group training, despite experiencing some muscular discomfort earlier. He will nonetheless be available for the match against Monaco,” Genesio explained.
As the market nears its close, Lille are holding firm, at least publicly, on keeping their talented winger. Whether Juventus will return with a concrete bid remains to be seen, but for now, Zhegrova looks set to continue his journey in Ligue 1.
