Zoff: “Spalletti Has Put Juventus Back on Track”

Dino Zoff, a Juventus legend both as a player and as a manager, has shared his thoughts on the club’s progress and prospects in an exclusive interview with Tuttosport. The former Italy goalkeeper reflected on his strong bond with the Bianconeri, his playing days in Turin, and his admiration for Luciano Spalletti’s work this season.

The Affection of the Fans

“I still receive letters from all over every week – fans send me photos to sign and return. I can’t really explain it,” Zoff said with a smile. “Maybe it’s because I’ve always behaved correctly. I’ve just been myself.”

His Years at Juventus

“For me, it was easier because I never carried jewellery around,” he joked. “Of course, big clubs bring more pressure, but Juventus never changed who I am. I felt comfortable there because I was serious and ambitious in my work. We had a wonderful group, well coached and aware of our duties and responsibilities.”

On Spalletti’s Impact

“Luciano has put the team back on the right path,” Zoff continued. “With him, Juventus have returned to competing for a Champions League place, which is the minimum target for a club of this stature. I think they’ll achieve it. He’s found tactical balance, and the team looks sharper and more confident.”

On the Scudetto Race

“I still see Inter as the favourites,” Zoff admitted, “but Spalletti has a competitive squad capable of fighting to the end. Nothing is impossible — they can definitely join the title race.”

On Yildiz

“The Turkish youngster is the icing on the cake of a strong group,” he said. “I like everything about him — not just his flair, imagination, and technical skill, but also the kind of person he is. That’s rare nowadays. I hope Juventus can tie him down with a new contract soon.”

On Di Gregorio

“When you play for a club like Juventus, criticism is part of the job,” Zoff explained. “I think he’s a good goalkeeper who’s doing his job very well. He doesn’t need my advice.”
