Milan Pursue Vlahovic Amidst Fierce Competition from Fenerbahçe and Others

The transfer market for strikers is heating up, with Dusan Vlahovic at the centre of attention. AC Milan, under the guidance of coach Massimiliano Allegri, are actively pursuing the Serbian forward, who has become a key figure in this summer’s transfer domino effect.

Calciomercato report how Allegri has personally reached out to Vlahovic, expressing his strong desire to have the striker join Milan for the upcoming season. The project at Milan is appealing, and Allegri’s direct involvement signals the club’s serious intent. However, the main obstacle remains the player’s salary demands, which Juventus, his current club, is keen to offload. Juventus is open to negotiating even with direct rivals, as they want to reduce their wage bill and avoid losing Vlahovic on a free transfer next year.

Meanwhile, the Turkish club Fenerbahçe, managed by José Mourinho, has made a substantial offer to Juventus. They propose a transfer fee in the region of 30 to 35 million euros and are ready to offer Vlahovic a lucrative four-year contract worth around 10 million euros net per season. This offer is significant and complicates Milan’s pursuit, as it presents a financially attractive option for both Juventus and the player.

Other clubs are also showing interest, albeit more cautiously. Atlético Madrid has made inquiries about Vlahovic as they seek to strengthen their attacking options, though no formal offer has emerged. Arsenal had been considered a hopeful destination for the striker, given their need for a prolific forward, but recent developments suggest they are focusing on other targets, diminishing their chances of signing Vlahovic.

For Milan, the situation is delicate. The club is willing to offer a competitive contract, reportedly up to seven million euros per season on a long-term deal, but matching Fenerbahçe’s offer remains a challenge. Milan’s strategy might involve negotiating a lower base salary supplemented by performance bonuses. The timing of any deal is also crucial, with Milan possibly waiting until after the Club World Cup to finalise moves.
