Juventus Target Franck Kessié on a Free Transfer as Midfielder Rejects Saudi Renewal

Juventus are making concrete moves to sign Franck Kessié on a free transfer this summer, according to Sky Sport, as the former AC Milan and Atalanta midfielder prepares to leave Saudi Arabia and return to Italian football.

Why Kessié Is Available

The 29-year-old has rejected a two-year contract extension from Al-Ahli worth €12 million net per season — a significant sacrifice that underlines just how determined he is to return to Serie A. During his time in Saudi Arabia, Kessié won two Asian Champions League titles and a Saudi Super Cup, but he is now ready for a new chapter. His contract expires on 30 June, making him a free agent once his World Cup campaign with Ivory Coast concludes.

Juventus’s Interest Is Genuine

Juventus first sounded out Kessié in January, but nothing concrete materialised at the time. Now, with the player’s intentions clear and his availability confirmed, the club are ready to move with greater purpose. Spalletti has requested reinforcements across the pitch, and the midfield is no exception — particularly given the possibility that either Teun Koopmeiners or Marcus Thuram could be sacrificed to generate transfer funds this summer.

Kessié’s profile — physically imposing, technically accomplished, and deeply familiar with Italian football after spells at Cesena, Atalanta, and Milan — makes him an attractive low-risk option. At zero transfer cost, the deal would be straightforward if personal terms can be agreed.

A Busy Summer Taking Shape

Juventus are shaping up as one of the most active clubs of the summer window despite missing out on Champions League qualification. With targets across every position — Martínez in goal, Brahim Díaz as a number ten, Sorloth and Kolo Muani up front, and now Kessié in midfield — Spalletti’s rebuild is gathering real momentum.
