Miretti and Joao Mário Heading to Bologna as Juventus Clear the Decks

Two more pieces of Juventus’s outgoing transfer jigsaw are falling into place, with Fabio Miretti and Joao Mário both emerging as subjects of active discussions with Bologna as the bianconeri work to reshape their squad under Giovanni Carnevali.

Miretti: Juventus Want a Sale, Bologna Want a Loan

Fabio Miretti’s future at Juventus is all but over. The 23-year-old midfielder has no meaningful role in Luciano Spalletti’s plans, and his entourage are actively exploring the best destination to guarantee him the regular playing time his development demands.

Bologna have emerged as the leading candidate, with the Emilian club confirming their interest in bringing the academy graduate to the Dall’Ara. There is, however, a structural disagreement to resolve: Bologna’s preference is a loan arrangement, whilst Juventus — who value Miretti at around €15 million — are pushing for an outright permanent sale that would generate a clean capital gain on the club’s balance sheet.

With Fiorentina, Como, Parma, and Sassuolo all having shown varying degrees of interest in the same player earlier in the window, Carnevali holds a degree of leverage. Whether Bologna ultimately agree to a permanent deal, or whether Juventus soften their position to secure a loan with an obligation to buy, will be one of the smaller but symbolically important negotiations of the coming weeks.

Joao Mário: Bologna Set to Keep the Portuguese Full-Back

On the other side of the equation, discussions between the two clubs over Joao Mário point towards a continuation of his time in Bologna. The Portuguese full-back, who spent last season on loan from Juventus, is understood to be well regarded at the club and looks increasingly likely to extend his stay — whether on a further loan or a permanent basis.

Together, the Miretti and Joao Mário situations illustrate the multiple threads of negotiation now running simultaneously between Turin and Bologna — a relationship that also encompasses the more significant pursuit of centre-back Jhon Lucumí, with Miretti himself potentially playing a role as a makeweight in that deal. Carnevali, who has built a career on exactly this kind of joined-up, relationship-driven transfer thinking, will be hoping the various strands can be woven together into a clean, mutually beneficial package before the window properly opens.
