Amauri: “At Juventus, There’s a Culture of Victory”

Start

Former Juventus and Palermo striker Amauri has looked back on his career, reflecting on his journey from Brazil to Italy and the turning points that defined his spell in Turin. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the forward spoke candidly about the winning mentality within Juventus and revealed he was once pursued by Roma and Milan.

“From the moment I arrived in Italy, I knew this was the country where I wanted to make my mark,” Amauri said. “When I joined Juventus, I immediately understood that there’s a culture of victory in that club. Winning isn’t just an objective—it’s part of everyday life.”

Amauri discussed the rumours that surrounded him during his peak years, when several Serie A sides fought to secure his signature. “Roma and Milan both wanted me,” he admitted. “There were a lot of talks, a lot of interest, but in the end, Juventus showed the most trust. Their project convinced me, and that’s why I joined them.”

The striker, who enjoyed some of his best footballing years in Palermo before moving to Juventus, described the jump in expectations that came with wearing the black and white shirt. “Playing for Juve changes everything,” he explained. “The pressure is immense, but it’s also what pushes you to improve. You’re surrounded by players and staff who live to win—every training session, every match.”

Amauri concluded by expressing gratitude for the experiences that shaped his path. “I learned so much from every club I played for. But Juventus taught me the importance of mentality. It’s not enough to have talent—you need hunger and a sense of belonging. That’s what makes Juve different.”
