Alessandro Del Piero has reflected on Juventus’ current situation, admitting that 2025 has not been an easy year for the club, but he believes their most recent victory shows encouraging signs of progress.
Speaking live on Sky from Doha during the broadcaster’s Christmas schedule presentation, the Juventus legend shared his thoughts on the Bianconeri’s form and upcoming challenges. Del Piero will also feature in an original Sky production titled 1996, The Year of Del Piero, airing in two episodes on 6 and 12 January.
“It’s not a simple year with the change of coach. The mental aspect is difficult to build, but it is fundamental,” said Del Piero. “As a Juventus fan, I hope this progress can continue. Winning has always been my priority.”
On Juve–Roma
Turning his attention to the upcoming clash between Juventus and Roma, Del Piero underlined the importance of the fixture for both sides.
“Juve–Roma, since it comes at this stage of the season, can be an opportunity for both teams to show consistency,” he explained. “Roma started differently from Juve; they’ve been a bit more solid in certain aspects of the league, and that’s why they are ahead. Saturday could allow them to strengthen or even improve their position. It would be a very strong signal for the team and the league as a whole.”
Del Piero also highlighted that Juventus are beginning to find their rhythm again. “Juve are rediscovering themselves and looking for some continuity. The win in Bologna is definitely a strong signal — following it up would confirm that they are on the right path and capable of recovering points, because those at the top, as we saw in the last round, can still drop some.”
On His Champions League Debut
The former Juventus captain also reminisced about his Champions League debut against Borussia Dortmund, recalling how the team overcame adversity to triumph.
“In that match we were missing Vialli and Ravanelli, our first-choice strikers,” he said. “We played on an important stage — myself, Padovano and Di Livio — and together we had around fifty appearances for Juventus. Yet we managed to win against a great side. It shows that nothing is impossible.”
