Dusan Vlahovic Nears Surgery as Juventus Braces for Extended Absence

Start

Bad news has struck Juventus once again, with Dusan Vlahovic edging closer to surgery following his recent injury. The Serbian striker’s distress was clear last Saturday when cameras caught him in tears as he left the pitch, seemingly telling Italy manager Luciano Spalletti, “I’ve really hurt myself.” Subsequent medical tests at JMedical have confirmed that Vlahovic’s concerns were justified, and an operation now appears increasingly likely.

Why Surgery Is Being Considered

IlBianconero report how, Initially, Vlahovic and the club hoped that conservative therapy could resolve the injury, which was expected to sideline him for around two and a half months. However, after further evaluation, specialists have now recommended surgical intervention.

Although Juventus has yet to formally confirm the decision, most Italian sports outlets suggest the operation is almost certain. Recovery time would still be lengthy – around three months at best – with some reports warning it could extend to five. The surgery, however, is viewed as a long-term safeguard to prevent relapse, particularly given the musculo-tendinous nature of the injury, which poses a risk of recurrence if not properly treated.

Where the Operation Might Take Place

Vlahovic is said to be deeply disheartened by this setback and has sought advice from his close friend and compatriot, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Two possible options have emerged for the procedure: one at a clinic in Switzerland, and the other under Professor Geert Declerq in Antwerp, Belgium – the same specialist who operated on Kevin De Bruyne in October. Declerq is a recognised expert in treating muscle injuries, which makes him a leading candidate for the job.

Decision Expected Soon

The final decision regarding the surgery is expected between Wednesday and Thursday. It is not excluded that Vlahovic will undergo additional consultations before committing to the operation, but all indications suggest that surgery is the most probable outcome.

Whatever the final choice, Juventus will now have to prepare for an extended spell without their key striker – a significant blow to the team’s ambitions in both Serie A and Europe.
