Gazzetta: Juventus Considering Roberto Mancini to Replace Thiago Motta

Juventus are reportedly on the brink of a significant managerial change, with Roberto Mancini emerging as the leading candidate to replace Thiago Motta. The current Juventus manager’s future appears to be hanging by a thread following a series of disappointing results that have jeopardized the club’s Champions League qualification hopes.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Motta’s position has become increasingly precarious after Juventus conceded seven goals in their last two matches without scoring. This dramatic dip in form, coupled with a reportedly strained relationship with much of the squad, has set alarm bells ringing at the club’s Continassa training ground. While Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli publicly backed Motta, there’s a growing sense that a change may be imminent.

The upcoming home match against Genoa on Saturday, March 29, is being viewed as a make-or-break moment for Motta. Another poor result could spell the end of his tenure at Juventus, with the club keen to salvage their season and secure a top-four finish.

Roberto Mancini, the former Italian national team coach, has emerged as the frontrunner to take over. Mancini, who recently concluded his stint as the Saudi Arabia national team manager, is said to be intrigued by the prospect of managing Juventus – the club he supported as a child. His track record of success and reputation as a “normalizer” make him an attractive option for a Juventus side in need of stability and direction.

Interestingly, Mancini is reportedly open to a unique arrangement. He could potentially agree to manage the team for the remainder of the season and the Club World Cup, with an automatic extension for the 2025-26 season contingent on securing Champions League qualification. This compromise could allow Juventus to address their immediate needs while keeping their options open for the future.

However, Juventus are also considering other candidates. Igor Tudor, who is currently unattached after his spell with Lazio last season, is another name in the mix. Tudor’s familiarity with Juventus, both as a former player and assistant coach, could work in his favor.
