“I Never Had an Agreement with Juve: I Categorically Refused” – Antonio Conte Sets the Record Straight

Start

Antonio Conte, now the manager of Napoli, addressed recent rumours regarding his relationship with Juventus in a candid interview (as quoted by IlBianconero)  on Sky Sport’s BuffaTalks. The conversation touched on various aspects of his career, including his early managerial experiences at Siena, Bari, and Lecce, as well as his successful three-year spell in charge of Juventus.

Conte was quick to dismiss speculation about a supposed agreement with Juventus in recent weeks, making his position unmistakably clear.

“No, absolutely I never had any agreement with Juventus and I categorically refused,” Conte stated. “To anyone who tried to approach me, I always said: ‘Gentlemen, I will not meet anyone, I will not talk to anyone until I have spoken with the President.’”

Reflecting on his deep connection to Juventus, Conte emphasized the enduring significance of the club in his life.

“For me, Juventus is, was, and will always be Juventus. So, as I said, even with Lecce, no one can ever undermine my feelings towards my history, towards where I grew up,” he explained. “It bothers me because so many people take advantage of my persona. Many are vultures, because I realize my name is different from many others.”
