“Inter Are the Strongest Team in Recent Years” – Tudor’s Candid Preview Ahead of Juventus-Inter Showdown

Start

On the eve of the Derby d’Italia, Igor Tudor faced the press with a mix of positivity and respect, previewing Juventus’ high-stakes clash with Inter Milan.

Reflecting on preparations after the international break, Tudor said, “It’s been a particular couple of weeks, coming back after the internationals. We’ve had to think day by day about who needs rest and who needs extra work. The feelings are good – we’ve trained together twice, and we’ll have another session tomorrow morning before the match. I’m feeling positive; I’ve missed being on the pitch.”

Asked about motivation levels, the coach explained, “It’s not just about Kenan Yildiz. It’s an individual drive every player has inside them. Of course, facing tough opponents raises motivation. As a manager, it’s easier to keep intensity high for matches like this. Over the course of the season, sustaining this enthusiasm makes the difference. Tomorrow’s a great game between two strong sides. I hope the fans come and enjoy it – especially ours.”

On whether this match is an examination for Juventus, Tudor was crystal clear: “No exams or leaps. It’s just a match to play, part of the journey the team is on. In these months, we’ve made very few mistakes. It’s an important game because it’s against Inter and it’s enjoyable, but it’s not one that changes everything. It’s fantastic to face and test ourselves against a team that, over recent years, is the strongest in Italy.”

Turning to his attacking options, Tudor remarked, “I have three strong forwards and I’m happy to have them. So far, we’ve played with one striker and two attacking midfielders. My job is to get the most out of the squad and its qualities, maybe even play differently at times. Openda needs space, David can play as a second striker – which is useful as their characteristics are different. Dusan can do both roles.”

On new arrivals, Tudor was upbeat: “I’m always happy, now even more so. Two lads have joined to help us. Openda is ready and brings great quality. Edon is still regaining fitness after a long period out and won’t be involved for the next two games. After Verona, he can gradually be brought into the squad. He’s got a unique skillset.”

Addressing defensive stability, Tudor noted, “Bremer is doing well. He played two matches, recovered in the break, and I think his level will keep rising.”

As for Conceição’s availability, Tudor added, “Let’s see tomorrow,” while also confirming that “Openda could start if Conceição isn’t fit.”

“Regarding #Koopmeiners, you have an obsession. Let him be, he’s working well, he’s settled in well in these matches, he played a high-level friendly in Bergamo. He has quality, he’ll do well. It’s normal that there’s always controversy about something, but I have to express my opinion calmly.”

Asked about his hopes for the match, Tudor gave a frank assessment: “Tomorrow is a game like any other. I expect to see what we’ve been training for – a serious, focused team, giving nothing away, courageous, and hurting Inter whenever possible. Press high, stay deep when needed, play well – I want to see it all. The mood is good after our final preparations, and the players are concentrated and eager to do well.”

On the question of the gap to Inter, Tudor concluded, “We’re preparing as best we can with our strengths. We respect Inter, but we’re playing at home and want to continue on our own path.”

And looking towards the future, he finished with, “Every match is special for me.”
