Di Gregorio

Juventus Begin Reflections on Di Gregorio: Possible Summer Moves Ahead

The defeat against Como has only strengthened a growing concern within Juventus — goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio is increasingly seen as a problem for Luciano Spalletti’s side. At a time when the team is struggling, the Bianconeri cannot even rely on the man between the posts.

Errors, lapses of confidence and technical uncertainty have made the former Monza keeper far from the dependable figure the club had hoped for. For now, his position is not officially under threat — as hinted by Spalletti’s comments after the match — but it is clear that Di Gregorio’s future has become a subject of reflection within the club hierarchy.

A Choice Backed by Motta and Giuntoli

Di Gregorio was a joint desire of Thiago Motta and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli: Motta appreciated his ability with the ball at his feet, while Giuntoli was looking to reduce the wage bill by moving on from Wojciech Szczęsny’s hefty salary. Yet it seems the keeper’s opportunities to prove himself may not be endless.

Juventus have already begun considering their options ahead of the summer, although everything will depend on whether the club qualifies for next season’s Champions League — a decision that could significantly shape the transfer budget and strategic choices.

Possible Replacements

Should Juventus decide to make a change, several names are already circulating. Marco Carnesecchi has emerged as a leading candidate for the summer, offering both youth and strong recent performances. Guglielmo Vicario, who is expected to leave Tottenham, could also attract serious interest from Turin.

Elia Caprile has been discussed, though there are doubts about whether he would truly represent an upgrade on Di Gregorio. Another possible option is David De Gea, set to leave Fiorentina, whose experience and shot-stopping ability remain highly respected despite some occasional mistakes.
