Juventus have been hit with an unexpected setback as Francisco Conceicao, one of Thiago Motta’s key attacking options, has been sidelined due to injury. The Portuguese winger will not be available for the upcoming Serie A fixture against Hellas Verona, scheduled for Monday evening in the 27th round of the 2024/25 season.
Motta confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Conceicao experienced a muscular problem during the final training session. Specifically, the former Porto player is suffering from an issue with the posterior part of his right thigh.
The extent of Conceicao’s injury and the duration of his absence will be determined following medical examinations scheduled for tomorrow. This setback is particularly concerning as it’s not the first time this season that Conceicao has faced muscular issues.
Earlier in the campaign, in September, Conceicao was sidelined for 23 days and missed five matches, including international duty, due to a peroneal muscle injury in his right leg. A similar thigh problem occurred just before the Supercoppa semi-final against Milan in Riyadh, which kept him out of action for 18 days and four matches.
This latest injury to Conceicao presents a challenge for Motta, who has frequently relied on the winger’s abilities to unlock defences, both as a starter and as an impact substitute. As Juventus prepares to face Hellas Verona, they’ll need to adjust their tactical approach in the absence of one of their most dynamic attacking threats.
